Billionaire Warren Buffett Considers This the Most Desirable Trait in Job Applicants

Berkshire Hathaway founder and CEO Warren Buffett, one of the richest people in the entire world, knows how to identify the right people to hop on board his company.

He may be nearing to become a nonagenarian but his skills in hiring the best of the best employees remain relevant, which managers could use to get the right applicant.

For the billionaire, the most important trait a person must have to join his company is integrity. So how do you actually know who has the right character?

Practice What You Say

People with high integrity make sure they deliver their promises. They know when to take the blame and they know when not to. Standing by what you believe in doesn’t mean you are stubborn, so long as you are open to others’ opinions as well.

Staying true to your commitment says a lot about your character

Holding your head up high with your words means you remain firm and not easily get swayed by the majority. By fulfilling your vows, you are becoming a role model for other employees, which makes you a key player in a company.

Practicing integrity also means practicing what you preach. If you noticed a coworker who has been consistent with what he does since Day 1 and his actions are in line with what he says he believes in, it is easier to trust that person. This is important in the workplace because they are the people whom you can entrust big projects with.

Fair Treatment to Everyone

Employees who live with integrity manifest fairness to everyone – from the janitor to the bosses. They understand that respect begets respect and they don’t choose who they will show courteousness to. They know when to be accountable and would not point fingers at officemates when they know they are at fault.

Showing Optimism

A person with high integrity remains calm in stressful situations

The workplace can be a hot pot of ill-tempered employees who are born out of a high-pressure environment. If the staffers are exposed to this in prolonged periods, the atmosphere could be toxic to others who are otherwise optimistic in nature.

People who practice integrity can work well under stressful conditions – when everyone else is panicking, and therefore disgruntled, they calmly remain on top of the situation. They also put dignity at the forefront of difficult conversations that could result in conflict by setting boundaries.

Promoting Open Communication

Honest communication is crucial for every business

Open communication is essential for the success of any company. A person with high integrity acknowledges the importance of this and understands that it should be heavily practiced so that efficiency and productivity are ensured.
