Since the financial crisis of 2008-2009, the global economy has experienced steady and sustained economic growth that has surpassed all expectations and forecasts from economic experts and pundits.

With the global bull market in full swing, it might come as a surprise to some that at present, there are actually 1.4 million more job openings in the U.S than there are unemployed job seekers to fill them!

That is an extraordinary statistic, especially given the fact that just one decade ago, we experienced the biggest financial setback in our lifetime which resulted in millions of people with no jobs or source of income.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics data through October, starting 2020 there are 7.3 million job openings for unemployed job seekers.

That number is 46% higher than what was estimated for the 2020 decade back in 2016 by independent financial firms who had forecasted the creation of 5 million jobs in this decade due to the market shift in service sectors.

According to the BLS, the service sector that is seeing a noticeable boom at the start of this decade is the hotels and restaurants sector, which has the highest share of job openings out of the 7.3 million, at 5.5%.

In the U.S, the trucking sector has been thriving in recent years and in 2020, trucking and warehouse workers are in great demand with job openings in that sector accounting for 5.4% of the entire quota.

Unfortunately, the mining industry will see a slight decline in this decade and it seems miners and loggers might have some legitimate concerns over their employability and job security in the future since this sector only accounts for 2.7% of the total job openings.

The Economic Research team at Glassdoor recently analyzed hundreds of thousands of market data statistics in order to determine the highest-paying jobs in the U.S at present.

According to the research findings, the top five highest-paying jobs in respective orders are physicians, pharmacy managers, dentists, pharmacists and enterprise architects.

With average base salaries of the top 15 highest-earning professions starting at $104,817 and going all the way up to $193,000, this might be as good a time as any to dust off that old resume and polish up your job interview skills to ensure that YOU look your best at your next interview for that dream job.
